Dr. John Battler directs consulting engagements in Kline’s Manufacturing Competitiveness practice within the practices management consulting division. With more than 25 years of industry and consulting experience, he focuses on manufacturing economics and technology assessment in the chemicals, materials, energy, and consumer products industries. He has a special interest in conducting detailed competitive cost and technology assessments..
During his more than six years with Kline & Company, John has directed or conducted close to 100 engagements that have included assessing competitors’ manufacturing capabilities, costs, and technology offerings and providing recommendations to improve competitive position and profit. These programs combine knowledge of the manufacturing and supply chain issues across various industry segments with skills in competitive intelligence, engineering, and business analysis.
Prior to joining Kline, John was a senior consultant with Milliman, developing business continuity plans for various manufacturing operations in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and materials manufacturing industries. Previously, he managed the process development, optimization, and technology transfer and provided manufacturing support to all third-party manufacturing partners for specialty chemicals for TriQuest, LP and the Acylation Derivatives business unit of Hoechst Celanese for 15 years.
John earned a Bachelor’s degree (with highest honors) in chemical engineering and an MS in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, along with a doctorate in chemical engineering from Rice University. He is a member of AIChE and past chairman of the manufacturing subdivision of AIChE’s Process Development Division.
